Freetown, 5th June, 2026 – The Office of the Press Secretary has clarified reports regarding the scheduling of the ECOWAS Summit in Sierra Leone. While the meeting was initially expected in June, he emphasized that the gathering is a mid‑year statutory summit, which by definition can take place at any point during the middle of the year.

This year’s session has been confirmed for July, Yusuf Keketoma Sandi told Truth Media. The government is realigning the timing of the summit within the statutory mid‑year window.

Preparations remain on track, including the nearing completion of the new $124 million international conference centre in Lungi, which is expected to serve as a flagship venue for high‑level regional and global events.
