Freetown, 27th March 2026- Sierra Leonean governance and financial inclusion expert, Naasu Genevieve Fofanah, has been appointed to the Board of Women in Mining Africa (WiM-Africa), a continental platform advancing women’s participation and leadership in the extractive industries.
Ms. Fofanah brings more than 15 years of senior leadership experience across government, financial services, and international development. She is the Founder and CEO of Susue Women’s Finance, established in 2021 to expand access to finance for women in the informal sector, and the Founder of Women’s Green Bank (Sierra Leone) Ltd., a pioneering institution focused on sustainable finance for women entrepreneurs.
Her governance track record includes serving as Vice Chair of the UNECA Women & Development Bureau, Co-Chair of the Bank of Sierra Leone Financial Literacy Working Group, and recognition as a Yale World Fellow.
At WiM-Africa, Ms. Fofanah’s expertise in financial systems, governance, and gender-lens investing will support initiatives such as Women-Led Mineral Value Addition, Women-Only Mining Zones, and ESG-aligned investment strategies aimed at strengthening climate resilience and economic opportunities for women in mining.
