Freetown, 24th March, 2026 – The Chairman of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) has begun a series of high-level engagements with political parties, government agencies, and international partners as part of preparations for the country’s 2028 General Elections.
The initiative, according to the Commission, is designed to strengthen electoral integrity and build trust among stakeholders well ahead of the polls.
“Our goal in these engagements is to ensure absolute professionalism and transparency,” the Chief Electoral Commissioner stated. “By engaging our partners early, we are laying the foundation of trust necessary for a credible 2028 electoral cycle.”
The discussions are expected to address concerns raised by political actors and civil society groups, while also providing updates on the Commission’s readiness to deliver elections that meet international standards.
Observers say the early start to consultations signals ECSL’s commitment to inclusivity and accountability, as Sierra Leone looks toward another pivotal democratic exercise.
