Freetown, 16th March 2026- The Ministry of Energy, in collaboration with the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA), has announced a structured electricity supply schedule for Freetown as the city grapples with reduced generation from Bumbuna Hydropower and limited input from other sources.

Officials say the seasonal drop in production during the dry months has left the capital facing widespread power shortages. To manage the situation fairly, six service zones have been designated for night supply rotation: Central: Savage Square to St. John, East: Upgun to Jui, Far East: Jui to Waterloo, Mountain Rural: Wilberforce to Bathurst, West: Congo Cross to Lumley Regent Road, Far West: Juba to Sussex

The Ministry explained that the schedule is designed to ensure equitable distribution of electricity across communities until supply stabilizes. Residents are encouraged to report outages during their scheduled supply periods by calling 672 or sending a message via WhatsApp to 077 672 672.
