Accra, Ghana, 13th January 2026– Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, has wrapped up a working visit to Ghana with a high-level courtesy meeting with his counterpart, Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, reaffirming the strong bilateral ties between the two nations and charting new pathways for cooperation under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The discussions focused on expanding collaboration in strategic sectors, including gas, digitalization, mining logistics, and trade, reflecting a shared vision to unlock growth and create jobs across both economies.

Dr. Jalloh underscored the practical nature of the talks, describing them as “a commitment to partnerships that deliver results.” He added: “Sierra Leone and Ghana have a long-standing relationship, and we are keen to deepen collaboration in sectors that can unlock growth and create jobs.”

Both leaders emphasized the importance of South-South cooperation and the transformative role of AfCFTA in driving Africa’s economic integration.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang hailed AfCFTA as “a critical platform for Africans to trade with one another, add value to our resources and accelerate development.” Dr. Jalloh echoed this sentiment, stressing that Sierra Leone and Ghana would “work closely for the mutual benefit of our peoples and the broader advancement of the African continent.”

The meeting signals renewed momentum in Sierra Leone–Ghana relations, with both governments committed to leveraging AfCFTA as a vehicle for regional prosperity and sustainable development.
