Freetown, 22nd December 2025- Under the leadership of current club president, Musa Bernard komeh, the Rotary Club of Freetown-Sunset with support from Rotary Club of Grand Prairie Metro and Rotary Club of Copell completed their Christmas smiles project at the Rural Education Committee Rusell School Boyoh Village on the 17th of December, 2025.
The project aimed at sharing love and Joy during the holidays by donating food items to pupils of Russel school was a successful one. The atmosphere was joyful and encouraging as children rejoiced and parent smiled.
The club president, Musa Bernad Komeh expressed joy saying it is always a beautiful feeling to be at Rusell School to put a smile on the faces of children. “Being here always gives me joy and it is a beautiful feeling to put a smile on the faces of the pupils of this school. Christmas is a jolly holiday and we Rotarians are always happy to do things like this as we have been doing for the past years” he said.
He says that the club’s relationship with the school is a sustainable one because Rotary Club of Freetown-Sunset has been helping the school for many years now.
“Rotary Club of Freetown-Sunset’s longstanding partnership with the school makes it evident we have a sustainable relationship. We are part of you and as a club we have supported the school in so many ways; from class room renovations, construction and equipment of a library to provision of desks and chairs, and many more” he said.
He says that event is a new project and it is a result of the club’s partnership with other Rotary clubs in the U.S. “This Christmas project is a new initiative and it is as a result of our Partnership with Rotary Club of Grand Prairie Metro and Rotary Club of Copell based in the U.S. They wanted to join ius to put a smile on the faces of these kids and to a large extent their families” Musa Komeh, club president noted.
Children and parents expressed joy and gratitude to the Rotary Club of Freetown-Sunset for this affectionate gesture.
Aminata Bendu a single mother of one says that she is elated and grateful because of this gesture.
“I am extremely happy because of the gift and food items the Rotary Club of Freetown-Sunset donated to the school and my son is Benefactor. This is not the first time the club has been doing good things for this school and the children. I am not surprised because this club is a humanitarian organization that has done a lot over the years. As a parent, this gesture means a lot to me and I am grateful” she said.
Like Aminata, Mamusu Kamara, a mother of three expressed same. “I am happy because the Rotary Club of Freetown-Sunset has put a smile on the faces of my children. I really appreciate this and as a mother I am happy because my kids are happy” she said.
The Principal of the School, Abraham I.D Cole says that these gestures from the club give the school a good standing in the area being that the community is a deprived one. He also believes that other kids will be motivated to go to school because of these gestures and that the Rotarians serve as role model to the pupils.
“I am very happy because of this donation by the Rotary Club of Freetown-Sunset and this is just one of the many things the club has been doing for the school. This community is a deprived one and this gesture gives the school a good image. It will motivate other kids to come to school and the Rotarians serve as role models to the pupils of this school. I am elated” he joyfully expressed.
The club president, Musa Bernard Komeh said that the club will continue to help the school and that he Rotary Club of Freetown-Sunset is an international humanitarian Club that brings professionals together to serve humanity and they identify problems.
