Former Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Thomas Daddy Brima has launched a scathing critique of the August 2nd SLFA Congress, branding the electoral process a “rogue stage-managed concert.”
Speaking on the Truth Morning Devotion, Brima accused the organizers of orchestrating a flawed event. “The recent SLFA elections were a rogue stage-managed concert,” he declared, adding that despite his anger, he convened the congress because “no one should hold this nation to ransom.”
The elections, which ushered in Babadi Kamara as SLFA President with 43 votes against Aminata Bangura’s 11, were monitored by representatives from FIFA, WAFU Zone A, the Ministry of Sports, and the National Sports Authority. One delegate abstained. Despite procedural concerns, the SLFA Electoral Appeals Committee upheld the results.
Brima acknowledged feeling “disrespected and betrayed” but stopped short of vilifying Kamara. “Babadi Kamara cannot be my enemy,” he said, emphasizing that respect remains, even amid political fallout.
Addressing the Transition Committee’s damning report, which cited financial and administrative lapses, including the disappearance of a government grant worth NLe 720 million and unresolved procurement contracts, Brima challenged its credibility. “There are always three sides to a story,” he argued. “You didn’t listen to my own side before publishing a report.”
While Brima refrained from directly blaming Kamara, he issued a warning: “If I am disrespected, I will fire back.”
