Freetown, 25th  November 2025 A major breakthrough has been recorded in the fight against drug trafficking in the Freetown West Region, following an intelligence-led police operation that resulted in the seizure of three barrels and three cartons containing dried leaves suspected to be kush.

According to the Sierra Leone Police, the operation was conducted under the direct supervision of Regional Commander AIG Sylvester M. N. Koroma, whose team acted swiftly on actionable intelligence across multiple locations.

Two of the barrels were recovered from a Serena vehicle with registration number ALA-080, driven by Yussif Sesay. Another barrel was intercepted from a Toyota taxi (API-156) at Adonkia Cemetery in Goderich. In addition, three cartons of suspected kush were discovered at a nearby residence believed to be owned by a woman identified as Patricia, who is currently on the run.

During preliminary investigations, driver Yussif Sesay claimed he had been contracted by one Abdul Rahman Sesay to transport the barrels. Both men have since been taken into custody. Meanwhile, the taxi driver linked to the Toyota vehicle fled the scene, and efforts to locate and arrest him are ongoing.

Police confirmed that all seized exhibits have been secured and are awaiting forensic laboratory analysis.

The Sierra Leone Police described the operation as a major disruption to drug trafficking activities in the region and reaffirmed the commitment of AIG Sylvester M. N. Koroma to intensifying the fight against illegal drugs in Freetown West.
