Freetown, 19th January 2026- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration with the Office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, has concluded a two-day National Validation Workshop on Sierra Leone’s Human Rights Report for the 4th Cycle of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR).

Held at the Foreign Affairs Conference Room, Tower Hill, Freetown, the workshop was supported by development partners, including the Embassy of the Republic of China in Freetown and the Global Center for Health Diplomacy and Inclusion, Geneva.

The validation brought together government institutions, the judiciary, parliament, UN agencies, civil society organisations, NGOs, academic institutions, and youth and women’s groups. Participants reviewed and strengthened the national report to ensure it reflects accurate data, inclusive perspectives, and Sierra Leone’s progress and challenges in promoting and protecting human rights.

This consultative process is a critical step ahead of the submission of Sierra Leone’s national report to the United Nations on 26 January 2026, reaffirming the country’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance.
