Freetown, 4th September 2026- The Government of Sierra Leone has joined grieving families and the Sierra Leonean community in Guinea to bid a solemn farewell to compatriots who tragically lost their lives in Conakry.
Representing His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio, Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Honourable Mohamed Rahman Swaray led the delegation at the burial ceremony. The moment, he said, was deeply moving as Sierra Leone stood shoulder to shoulder with bereaved families to accord the departed a dignified final farewell.
The official delegation included the Minister of Social Welfare, the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Presidential Spokesman, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Guinea, and the Director General of the Disaster Management Agency.
Delivering the President’s message of condolence, Minister Swaray conveyed Sierra Leone’s deepest sympathies and solidarity with the families during this difficult time. “Sierra Leone mourns and stands with them in their grief,” he affirmed.
As the nation reflects on the tragedy, the government has called for unity and compassion, assuring families of continued support.
