7th November 2025- President Julius Maada Bio has departed Freetown for Abuja, Nigeria, where he will deliver the keynote address at the 12th Convocation Ceremony of Baze University and participate in high-level investment engagements with top African business leaders.

Baze University, one of Nigeria’s premier private institutions, invited President Bio in recognition of his leadership in education reform, youth empowerment, and innovation—hallmarks of his administration that are positioning Sierra Leone as a rising model for inclusive development across Africa.

During the ceremony, President Bio will lay the foundation stone for the newly remodelled postgraduate facility, which will be named the “JM Bio Post-Graduate School” in tribute to his contributions to expanding access to quality education.

Beyond the academic spotlight, the President’s visit includes strategic meetings and a business dinner aimed at strengthening economic ties between Sierra Leone and Nigeria. These engagements also reinforce his role as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, with a focus on advancing regional trade integration and sustainable investment for shared prosperity.
