Kenema, 19th January 2026- Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, who also serves as Deputy Leader of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening party unity and advancing development in the Eastern Province during a high-profile engagement with party members and delegates in Kenema.
Speaking to more than 320 delegates and supporters at the SLPP district office, Dr. Jalloh emphasized his role as a bridge-builder within the party, urging members to remain focused on peace, cohesion, and national progress.
“We are a party of national unity,” he declared. “As future leaders, we must remain united, motivated, and development-oriented as we build on President Bio’s legacy of reconciliation and progress.”
Highlighting his longstanding ties to the SLPP, the Vice President recalled his early pledge to support the transformation of the Kenema Polytechnic into a full-fledged university, describing it as a cornerstone of his contribution to education and regional development.
Dr. Jalloh also addressed past disputes during lower-level elections, acknowledging that disagreements are part of political competition but stressing the importance of reconciliation. “Power is not given like a piece of bread. Power is fought for and taken,” he said. “Friction and misunderstanding are part of the process, but after all of that, peace must be restored.”
He described Kenema as “the centre of gravity of the party,” assuring residents that the district will continue to enjoy respect and support from the SLPP’s national leadership.
The Vice President’s visit comes at a crucial time as the SLPP works to consolidate its base ahead of future political contests. His message of unity and development resonated strongly with delegates, many of whom welcomed his reaffirmation of Kenema’s central role in the party’s history and future.
