Bonthe, 5th February 2026- Makeni is set to host this year’s Annual National Presidential Town Hall in June, the Ministry of Information and Civic Education has confirmed. Minister Chernor Bah made the announcement during the Ministry’s recent Staff Retreat on Bonthe Island in the Southern Region, signaling another step in bringing governance closer to the people.
The Presidential Town Hall, now an annual fixture, was first held in Freetown in 2024, where President Dr. Julius Maada Bio personally engaged citizens and answered their questions on national development. Last year, the event moved to Kenema, with over 25 Cabinet Ministers representing the President and addressing fifty key questions on issues affecting the lives of ordinary Sierra Leoneans.
This year, Makeni will host the event, giving citizens a direct platform to interact with the Presidency. Minister Bah emphasized that the initiative aligns with President Bio’s Year of Action, ensuring accurate, timely information reaches the public while fostering meaningful civic engagement.
Beyond the Town Hall, the Ministry plans to continue the Civic Day Series across remaining districts and in the diaspora. The National Civic Festival will also return in December, with dates to be confirmed.
With the Presidential Town Hall coming to Makeni, citizens can look forward to a lively, interactive forum to raise their concerns and contribute to shaping the nation’s development.
