Freetown, 7th April 2026: Flagbearer aspirant of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hon. Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah, has cautioned political leaders against making statements that could inflame tensions or erode public confidence in Sierra Leone’s democratic process.

Responding to recent remarks by SLPP leadership, Bah stressed that in a democracy, power is not “handed over” by any president but determined solely by the people. “Power belongs to the people of Sierra Leone, plain and simple,” he declared, warning that any suggestion otherwise was troubling and risked undermining the nation’s democratic fabric.

Bah, a former Deputy Leader of the APC and Deputy Speaker of Parliament, emphasized that no individual or party has the right to pre-determine the will of the electorate. He pointed to the 2007 elections as an example of how citizens decisively shape the country’s future.

He further pledged that the APC, through its One Salone Agenda, remains committed to unity, peace, and respect for every vote. “Statements that can inflame tensions or create fear do not help our country. At this stage, we need calm, responsibility, and a commitment to peace,” Bah said.

Concluding his remarks, Bah asserted: “The will of the people is supreme. It cannot and will not be denied. The APC is ready. The people are ready. Sierra Leone is ready.”
