Freetown, April 3, 2026 — The Guma Valley Water Company (GVWC) has announced a temporary shutdown of water supply across Freetown today to allow for urgent repair works on a major transmission pipeline.
According to management, the interruption will last from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., affecting households and businesses for a period of four hours. The repair is being carried out on the 22-inch transmission pipeline at Sesay Drive, Hamilton, a critical line in the city’s water distribution network.
GVWC expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the disruption but assured customers that every effort is being made to complete the work within the stated timeframe and restore supply promptly.
In its statement, the company emphasized that the repairs are necessary to maintain reliable service and prevent more serious breakdowns in the future.
Residents are advised to make contingency plans for the short outage and to use stored water sparingly until supply is restored.
