Freetown, 13th April 2026 APC flagbearer aspirant Dr. Ibrahim Bangura has broken ground for the construction of a Women’s Village in Pujehun District, marking a symbolic step in his ongoing tour of Sierra Leone’s southeast.

The ceremony, held in Fairo, brought together grassroots women under the Female Farmers Network, who were introduced to the DIB Movement by Naasu Fofanah, former Gender Advisor to ex-President Ernest Bai Koroma and a proud daughter of Pujehun. Fofanah underscored the importance of women’s voices in shaping inclusive governance and community development, linking national politics with local realities.

Dr. Bangura congratulated winners of the recent ward elections in Pujehun, urging them to be magnanimous in victory and avoid malpractice. He reiterated his message of peace, unity, and discipline, stressing that the APC must remain cohesive ahead of future contests.

Reflecting on his roots, Bangura reminded supporters that he is “a son of the APC, born and bred,” referencing his father, M.L. Bangura, a founding member of the party’s Youth League. He commended District Chairman Mohamed Amadu Sesay (Dr. Woo) for his loyalty and service, emphasizing that his visit was a deliberate recognition of Pujehun’s role in the APC’s history.

Calling for tolerance and inclusivity, Bangura urged residents to welcome all aspirants as they had welcomed him. He expressed confidence that the DIB Movement would produce both the next APC flagbearer and Sierra Leone’s next president, describing the journey as “history-making.”

The sod-turning of the Women’s Village adds a practical dimension to his message, symbolizing investment in women’s empowerment and community development. For many in Pujehun, the initiative represents not just politics, but a tangible commitment to improving livelihoods and amplifying women’s role in Sierra Leone’s future.
