Freetown, 23rd February 2026 – APC Flagbearer aspirant Dr. Ibrahim Bangura was on the ground at Ward 429, Constituency 127, on Saturday, monitoring the voting process during the All People’s Congress (APC) lower-level elections in Freetown.

The atmosphere at the center was tense, though no disruptions were reported. Bangura, who also cast his vote, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the elections, noting that the process was largely free and fair across the various centers.

At Ward 429, eight positions were contested, including chairman and chairlady. The ward drew attention after reports circulated on social media alleging ballot papers carried only symbols. However, ballots at the center featured candidates’ photos, names, and symbols such as a house, car, chicken, and motorbike.

Speaking to journalists, Dr. Bangura emphasized his role in ensuring transparency. “I am in contact with the Party’s executive to make sure the process goes as it should,” he said, stressing that credible ward-level elections are vital to strengthening democracy within the APC.

Bangura also reacted to reports of disruptions in other parts of the country, including the burning of a makeshift classroom used as a polling center in Falaba District. He assured supporters that such incidents would be investigated and addressed. “We will work with party officials to know what went wrong, and it will be rectified,” he pledged.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Bangura called on APC supporters to remain calm and respect the outcomes of the elections. His presence at the polls underscored his commitment to grassroots democracy and his growing influence as a flagbearer aspirant.
