Freetown, 9th March 2026– As the All People’s Congress (APC) continues its internal electoral process, the Dr. Ibrahim Bangura (DIB) Movement has issued a public appeal urging party members to uphold peace, unity, and discipline throughout the contest.
In a statement released over the weekend, the DIB Movement emphasized that the ongoing elections should serve as a platform to strengthen democratic principles and deepen party unity, rather than fuel division.
“While healthy debate and competition are natural in any democratic process, such engagement must remain respectful and constructive,” the statement noted.
The group expressed concern over rising tensions among supporters, pointing to confrontational exchanges, personal attacks, and inflammatory comments both in meetings and on social media. According to the DIB Movement, such behaviour undermines the values of the APC and risks weakening the party’s cohesion.
Supporters were urged to avoid insults and provocation and instead promote their preferred candidates through ideas, policies, and positive engagement. “Beyond this contest, we remain members of one party, united by a shared vision and responsibility to the people we serve,” the statement added.
The DIB Movement reaffirmed its commitment to a peaceful, transparent, and credible electoral process, stressing that the strength of the APC lies in its ability to compete with dignity and emerge stronger from internal contests.
“We thank the wider membership for their continued dedication and commitment to upholding peace and unity within the party,” the statement concluded.
