Freetown, 24th March 2026- The Ministry of Information and Civic Education has wrapped up day one of its Civic Day Series in Falaba District, marking the second district-level engagement for 2026.
The opening day focused on youth participation, featuring a quiz and debate competition held at the District Council Hall in Mongo Bendugu.
Four schools participated in the quiz contest: Morifindugu Secondary School Serekolia, St. George Secondary School, Ansarul Islamic Secondary School, and Karifaya Junior Secondary School.
After three competitive rounds, Alex Fakar Marah of St. George Secondary School emerged as the overall winner with 32 points. Ibrahim Mansaray secured second place with 29 points, while Amie Kumara finished third with 25 points.
In the debate segment, three schools competed over two rounds. Isatu Dabor of St. George Secondary School took first place with 15 points. Poreh Kuria Kamara of Karifaya Junior Secondary School came second with 11 points, while Morie Foray Kumara of Morifindugu Secondary School Serekolia placed third.
Winners in both categories were awarded cash prizes, certificates, and school bags. First-place winners received NLe 2,000, while second and third-place winners took home NLe 1,500 and NLe 1,000 respectively.
Top performers are expected to represent their districts at the National Civic Quiz and Debate Competition scheduled to take place in Freetown in December 2026.
The Civic Day Series continues on Tuesday, 24 March 2026, with a town hall meeting in the district.
