Freetown, 24th November, 2025– Sierra Leone’s Cabinet has formally endorsed the FY2026 Budget and the 2026 Finance Bill, paving the way for their submission to Parliament. The decision was reached during a special Cabinet meeting, chaired by His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio.
According to a statement issued by Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, this year’s Finance Bill is designed to tackle the urgent need for increased revenue mobilization, with a strong emphasis on strengthening the country’s tax administration systems.
“In a special Cabinet meeting chaired by His Excellency Julius Maada Bio we endorsed the FY2026 Budget and the 2026 Finance Bill for submission to Parliament. This year’s Finance Bill addresses the critical need for increased revenue mobilization by strengthening the tax administration”.
The accompanying 2026 Appropriation Bill builds on recent gains in human capital development, prioritizing investments in health system strengthening and improvements in the quality of education across all levels. The Bill also outlines plans to scale up investments aimed at boosting productivity in key sectors such as food security, energy access, and digitalization.
Equally significant, the Bill sets out clear parameters for improving expenditure management. The goal, according to the statement, is to build a sustainable domestic finance architecture that can attract increased support from development partners and private sector investors across government priority areas.

The FY2026 Budget and Finance Bill are expected to be tabled before Parliament in the coming days.
