Freetown, 27th February 2026 – The Internal Elections Management Committee (IEMC) of the All People’s Congress (APC) has announced the cancellation of several ward executive elections held on Saturday, 21st February 2026, across the country.

In a formal notice to the party’s National Secretary General, the IEMC said the decision followed a comprehensive post-election review involving reports from district coordinators, field officers, and other stakeholders. The review identified serious procedural, administrative, and operational irregularities that undermined the credibility of the process in affected wards.

Among the cancelled wards are constituencies in Kono, Bombali, Falaba, Tonkolili, Kambia, Karene, Port Loko, Moyamba, Pujehun, Western Area East, Rural, and West. The Committee stressed that the cancellations were necessary to safeguard the integrity of the party’s internal democratic processes and ensure elections are conducted in line with the APC Constitution (2022), Elections Regulations, and approved guidelines.

The IEMC said it will soon communicate the administrative and logistical arrangements for fresh elections in the affected wards. It reaffirmed its commitment to impartiality, professionalism, and adherence to electoral standards in managing the party’s internal polls.
