Freetown, Sierra Leone, 10th September 2025 – The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has announced significant progress in its investigation into the recent armed robbery incidents in Bo and Kenema, which resulted in the death of Reverend Father Augustine Dauda Amadu and the serious injury of NASSIT Manager Mr. John Lamina.
Speaking at a high-level press conference held on Wednesday at Police Quarters in Kingtom, the SLP management expressed condolences to the bereaved family and extended sympathy to the injured.
According to the police, five suspects directly connected to the crimes have been arrested, along with one individual believed to be a receiver of stolen goods who is assisting investigators. Warrants of arrest have also been issued for four other suspects currently at large.
The SLP noted that since the incidents on August 28 and 30, no similar cases have been reported nationwide. This, the police said, is the result of a series of administrative and operational measures put in place to strengthen public security.
“The Sierra Leone Police remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting lives and property and will ensure that all perpetrators are brought to justice,” the statement read. The SLP further appealed to members of the public to continue providing timely information that could aid the arrest of the remaining suspects.
The police management also commended citizens for their cooperation, assuring that the institution will maintain its efforts to prevent a recurrence of such incidents and uphold law and order across the country.
