Freetown, 19th October 2026- The High Court has fined Mohamed Pope Kamara, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All People’s Congress (APC), Le10,000 after finding him in contempt of court for breaching an earlier injunction restraining former party officials from holding themselves out as national officers or performing official party functions.
Delivering his ruling, Justice Adrian Fisher said the court had issued the injunction on August 27, 2026, and that Kamara had been duly served with the order. The contempt proceedings arose after Kamara allegedly continued to identify himself as the APC’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary during several video interviews and also published an article communicating the functions of the party despite the court restriction.
Appearing before the court, Kamara pleaded guilty to the contempt charge and admitted granting the interviews in which he referred to himself as the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary. He apologised to the court and formally retracted the statements.
His counsel, S.K. Koroma, also appealed to the court on his client’s behalf, informing the judge that Kamara had taken steps to delete the videos that breached the injunction. Counsel further assured the court that his client would not repeat the conduct that led to the proceedings.
In his ruling, Justice Fisher observed that Kamara had repeatedly granted interviews while identifying himself as a national officer of the APC despite the existence of the court order. The judge noted that other former party officers had complied with the injunction and warned that repeated violations of court orders undermine the administration of justice.
