Freetown, 5th October 2026- The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed an appeal filed by Aminata Bangura, affirming a decision previously handed down by the Sierra Leone Football Association’s (SLFA) Ethics Board.
According to a statement issued by the SLFA, the ruling was delivered in an arbitral award dated October 5, 2026, under case number CAS 2025/A/11613, Aminata Bangura v. Sierra Leone Football Association. The international sports tribunal upheld the Ethics Board’s July 19, 2025 decision and rejected the appeal in its entirety.
The award further directed that the costs of the arbitration proceedings be borne by Bangura. It also ordered her to pay a contribution of CHF 3,000 towards the SLFA’s legal costs and expenses.
Reacting to the judgment, the SLFA welcomed the decision, describing it as a confirmation of the work of its judicial bodies and a reaffirmation of the principles of integrity, transparency and compliance within football administration.
The association said the ruling reinforces its commitment to good governance and accountability in the management of football affairs in Sierra Leone.
The CAS, based in Lausanne, Switzerland, serves as the highest international body for resolving disputes related to sport. The latest decision brings to a close Bangura’s challenge to the Ethics Board’s ruling at the international arbitration level.
