Freetown, 20th July, 2026—The Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), Conrad Sackey, has urged the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) students to be confident as they commence exams today.
“Fear will try to enter that examination hall with you. Do not let it sit beside you. Breathe, read each question twice, and answer with the confidence of someone who has put in the work, because you have,” he said.
As thousands of pupils across Sierra Leone walk into the examination halls, he said they carry the hopes of families, the sacrifices of parents and the future of the nation, calling them to walk in with their heads high.
“You have already done the hardest part. The early mornings of revision, sleepless nights, the questions you asked your teachers until the answers finally made sense, that preparation is now yours to trust,” he said.
To the parents and guardians who have accompanied their children on this journey, he said their sacrifices were not unnoticed and urged them to continue standing with them.
