Freetown, 10th July 2026- The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) will on Monday, July 13, 2026, launch a nationwide U-17 Boys Talent Hunt Programme, marking a major step in its drive to nurture the next generation of football stars. The opening session kicks off at 1:00 p.m. at the SLFA Academy in Freetown, with simultaneous exercises taking place across the country’s four other regions.
The initiative is designed to identify promising young players and channel them into the FA’s structured Player Development Pathway. To ensure transparency and proper verification, all participants must present a valid National Identity Card or Passport before being allowed to take part.
At the end of the regional screenings, each zone will select 20 outstanding players to advance to the National U-17 Talent Hunt. These finalists will undergo further assessment, with the most exceptional talents earmarked for future national team opportunities.
SLFA officials say the programme underscores the association’s commitment to investing in youth football development. By creating a clear pathway from grassroots to elite level, the FA hopes to build a strong pipeline of players ready to represent Sierra Leone on the international stage.
