Freetown, 4th June, 2026 — The Government of Sierra Leone has successfully coordinated the safe return of nine nationals from across the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), who arrived in the country from the United States under the Third Country National Agreement (TCNA).
The group, which landed in Sierra Leone on May 20, was received at Freetown International Airport and provided with temporary care in line with international humanitarian standards. During their stay, they were offered accommodation, meals, clothing, health screening, psychosocial support, and other essential services.
The process was managed through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, working alongside diplomatic missions, relevant government institutions, and Kenvah Solutions, the private partner tasked with operational support.
After completing all necessary administrative, consular, and travel arrangements, the nine individuals voluntarily returned to their respective countries of origin.
Officials say the successful operation underscores Sierra Leone’s commitment to regional cooperation, humanitarian responsibility, and orderly migration management. It also demonstrates the country’s ability to provide temporary protection and dignified solutions for people in transit, while working closely with regional and international partners.
