Freetown 22nd May 2023 – At the recent Consumer Parliament engagement, Africell Sierra Leone’s Chief Executive Officer, Shadi Gerjawi, underscored the company’s commitment to expanding digital inclusion and advancing technology across the country.
Gerjawi described Africell as a trailblazer in telecommunications, pointing to milestones such as the launch of 3G services in 2011, the rollout of 4G connectivity in 2018, and becoming the first mobile operator in Sierra Leone to secure a 5G spectrum license.
The CEO emphasized that Africell’s growth strategy is focused on nationwide coverage, ensuring communities in every district gain access to reliable and modern digital services.
Beyond connectivity, Gerjawi highlighted Africell’s investment in skills and education, citing the free Learning and Training Centre on Wilkinson Road, which continues to provide opportunities for young people to develop digital and professional competencies.
Africell’s dual focus on technology and human capital reflects its ambition to drive Sierra Leone’s digital transformation, positioning the company not only as a service provider but as a partner in national development.
