Freetown, 19th May 2026 — The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has delivered a ruling on dozens of petitions arising from the All People’s Congress (APC) lower‑level internal elections, directing reruns in some wards, upholding results in others, and nullifying certain positions where eligibility was questioned.

The Commission, exercising its constitutional mandate, received petitions from 37 APC members covering 72 wards across the Western Area, Southern, Eastern, Northern, and North‑West regions. Hearings were conducted between 8–18 April in Freetown, Bo, Kono, Makeni, and Port Loko.

Key Highlights of the Ruling include:

Western Area

Constituency 116 (Wards 407, 408, 409): Elections cancelled by the Internal Elections Management Committee (IEMC) will be rerun, using voter lists published on 12 February 2026.

Constituency 117 (Ward 412): Petition dismissed; IECB decision upheld, results stand.

Constituency 118 (Ward 413): IECB decision overturned; results of the election stand after findings showed alleged violence did not affect outcomes.

Constituency 124 (Ward 428): Offices of Vice Chairman and PRO declared vacant after winners were found not resident in the ward. Runners‑up Kosonikeh Temple and Foday Kanu declared Deputy Chairman and PRO respectively.

Constituency 125 (Ward 431): Petition upheld; IECB decision overturned, results stand after evidence showed disruptions did not materially affect the process.

Constituency 127 (Ward 435): Election for PRO nullified; rerun ordered due to denial of petitioner’s right to contest.

Southern Region

Bonthe District (Wards 312, 313, 314): Despite allegations of intimidation by the “Soja Team,” Commission found elections were conducted and results stand.

Ward 316 (Constituency 091): Petition dismissed; elections held at designated venue, results stand.

Ward 318: Allegations of disenfranchisement noted, but Commission ruled non‑participation does not invalidate elections; results stand.

Ward 322 (Constituency 092): Venue change due to Vice President’s visit did not affect conduct; results stand.

Eastern Region

Petitions across nine wards in Kono were reviewed, with the Commission generally upholding results where evidence of irregularities was unsubstantiated.

Northern & North‑West Regions

Falaba District: Eleven wards reviewed; directives issued for reruns where eligibility concerns arose.

Kambia District: Sixteen wards petitioned; hearings confirmed elections were conducted, results largely upheld.

Port Loko District: Petition dismissed; results stand.

The PPRC emphasized that while violence, venue changes, and administrative lapses were alleged in several petitions, only cases with clear breaches of eligibility or denial of rights warranted reruns or nullifications. In most wards, the Commission upheld IECB decisions and confirmed results.

Chairman of the PPRC underscored that the rulings were guided by the APC Constitution, the Public Elections Act 2022, and the Commission’s mandate to ensure fairness and legality in party elections.
