Freetown, 10th April 2026- The Minister of Information and Civic Education has conducted an on-site assessment of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation building at New England Ville, following a fire incident that affected a small section of the facility.

Minister Chernor Bah, accompanied by the Minister of Local Government, Tamba Lamina, was guided through the specific areas affected by the Director General of SLBC, Josephine Kamara. The assessment confirmed that the fire was contained to a section of the top floor.

The office of the Deputy Director General was the most affected area, with damage to office equipment. The fire also reached part of the Engineering Department but was contained before spreading to critical broadcasting infrastructure.

SLBC management indicated that they currently await an official report from the National Fire Force and Disaster Management authorities to establish the cause of the incident and to provide a full assessment of the site. Further technical checks will be conducted to confirm the safety and integrity of the building.
