Kailahun, 23rd March, 2026 – All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer aspirant, Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, has called for unity, discipline, and renewed commitment among party supporters during a vibrant DIB Movement meeting held in Kailahun Town on Monday.
In his keynote address, Dr. Bangura asked for a moment of silence to mark the anniversary of Sierra Leone’s civil war, which began in Kailahun District on March 23, 1991. Reflecting on the district’s painful history, he noted that his academic research on women in peacebuilding once brought him to Kailahun, deepening his personal connection to the area.
“Kailahun holds a special place in my heart,” he said, commending APC supporters for their loyalty and sacrifices. He praised former President Ernest Bai Koroma for infrastructural developments, particularly the road network linking Kailahun, and urged party faithful to remain disciplined and united as the APC prepares for the 2028 elections.
The meeting, hosted by APC Regional Chairman Comrade Stanley Moiwo Maya Kaikai, brought together newly elected ward chairpersons, constituency executives from all ten constituencies, and key regional stakeholders. Chairman Kaikai welcomed Dr. Bangura and reaffirmed Kailahun’s support for his leadership aspirations.
A notable highlight came when APC regional strongwoman Finda Diana Konomanyi publicly declared her support for Dr. Bangura. She urged delegates to prioritize humility, capacity, and quality leadership in their choice of flagbearer, describing Dr. Bangura as the candidate who best embodies those qualities.
The gathering concluded with renewed calls for unity, discipline, and sacrifice within the APC, as the contest for the party’s flagbearer position continues to intensify.
