Freetown, 5th February 2026- The Sierra Leone Police have confirmed that one of their own officers is among five suspects arrested in connection with a deadly armed robbery at a fuel station in Makeni, raising fresh concerns about criminal infiltration within the force.
The attack, which left a fuel station attendant shot dead, sparked outrage among residents and prompted a swift investigation by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID). Head of CID, ACP Allieu Jalloh, revealed that investigators recovered spent bullet shells at the crime scene, which were later traced to Police Constable 15768, Micheal Lengor Sesay.
Witnesses allegedly told police that Sesay supplied his firearm to armed robbers to carry out the operation. A large sum of money was stolen during the raid, and another suspect is reportedly assisting investigators with further information.
In another update, ACP Jalloh condemned a mob justice incident earlier this year on Kingharman Road, where 27-year-old Joshua Mansaray was beaten to death after being accused of attempting to steal a motorbike. Police investigations later revealedthat Mansaray had not tried to steal anything. Three suspects have been arrested, while others remain at large.
Meanwhile, police confirmed that Constable 22322 Frederick Mukeh Moigboi, formerly stationed at the Lunsar Checkpoint, has been charged to court for allegedly opening fire and killing a fellow officer along with a community volunteer.
According to ACP Jalloh, Moigboi refilled his ammunition after the shooting and returned to the scene pretending to be unaware of the killings. Security intelligence later exposed his involvement, leading to his arrest and prosecution.
