Freetown, 16th December 2025 – A Sierra Leonean bettor, identified only as Theodore, has walked away with NLe1,063,000 after winning Mercury International’s 1X2 online football jackpot. The win came from a ticket that cost just NLe5, underscoring the scale of the payout.
Mercury International, one of Sierra Leone’s leading betting companies, confirmed the handover of the prize, which formed part of a NLe3,189,000 jackpot shared among winners in Mali, Zimbabwe, and Sierra Leone. The 1X2 jackpot is serviced by Premier Bet and involves selections across 18 countries. A minimum prize of NLe267,000 is set weekly, increasing until one or more players hit the jackpot.
Theodore, who has been betting with Mercury International for over 15 years, expressed gratitude for the platform.
“A lot of things are in mind to do with the money but one major thing is my family, and this win comes at a time I really need the money,” he said. He added: “My advice is for people to continue betting but to bet responsibly.”
Octavus Jackson, Deputy Online Manager at Mercury International, thanked Theodore for his loyalty. “He has been involved in the online betting system since it started in 2018,” Jackson noted. He explained the mechanics of the jackpot:
“The ticket costs NLe5. On a weekly basis we offer 15 games to our customers to select 1 (home win), X (draw), or 2 (away win). All you have to do is choose the option you are comfortable with. You can go to our website and follow the steps to be the next winner.”
Sabieu Mansaray, Mercury International’s Marketing Strategist, emphasized the company’s credibility and long‑standing presence in Sierra Leone.
“Our competitors cannot match us. This remarkable win demonstrates our commitment, transparency, and timely payouts. If you win today, you will be paid today as long as it’s before 4:00,” he said.
Mansaray added that Mercury International has been in operation for over 17 years, and in just one recent weekend, customers collectively won NLe10 million across the company’s various betting services.
