Freetown, 30th October 2025 Police in Calaba Town have arrested a man in possession of 560 wraps of suspected Kush, a synthetic drug increasingly linked to public health and safety concerns across Sierra Leone.

According to the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) Media Team, the arrest was made on Wednesday, 29th October 2025, following a targeted operation led by Assistant Superintendent Saccoh Kabbie Kharr, Officer Commanding the Calaba Town Police Station. The operation was initiated based on credible intelligence provided by an informant.

The suspect, identified as Abdulrahman Conteh of No. 45 Kinson Road, Kissy, was apprehended after officers conducted a search that revealed hundreds of wraps of dried leaves believed to be Kush. The substance has gained notoriety in recent years for its harmful effects and widespread circulation among youth.

Following the arrest, both the suspect and the seized items were handed over to the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) for further investigation.

The SLP Media Team emphasized that the operation reflects ongoing efforts by law enforcement to disrupt the illegal drug trade and safeguard communities from the dangers of synthetic narcotics.
